2018, a year of success of a new experience of photography in the Gaspé Peninsula

The 9th Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gaspésie are winding up after a hectic season of activities and exhibits. “From Guantanamo to the North Shore by way of Kazakhstan, Rencontres offers discoveries as varied as they are unusual” La Presse+
“Alternating between position-taking and poetry, the works presented open up a dialogue on humans; on their impact on the world…” Jean-Sébastien Scraire (Héliographe)
“More than a simple visit, this was a collective experience nourished by fabulous encounters and discoveries” Mirna Boyadjian (esse.ca)

ARTIST RESIDENCIES | 2018

In 2018, seven artists  were hosted in the Gaspé: young artists and international photographers from Québec and elsewhere traveled the peninsula to create a place where art invites people to set off and discover the region. For the first time, Rencontres set up a design residency with the aim of creating a multipurpose exhibit pavilion, which will be inaugurated in 2019 for the 10th-anniversary edition.
