Pratiques et Usages de l’Image (Nantes, France), in collaboration with Rencontres, is staging the 2nd edition of the project “L’édition comme finalité” (The Publication as Objective). Presented in Nantes until May 31, 2021, this project on the subject of the photographic book consists of an exhibition, get-togethers and a fanzine workshop.
The exhibit brings together more than 25 Québec books and the same number of French books that consider publication as the intended result of an artistic approach. The selection of the Québec works being presented was made by curator Serge Allaire, and that of the French books by Pratiques et Usages de l’Image.
The public can see the exhibition on May 21, 28, 29 and 30 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and by appointment at Atelier Alain le Bras in Nantes. An encounter with Arnaud de la Cotte and Julie Hascoët, two of the guest artists exhibiting photographic and video work, will take place on May 29 at 11 a.m. Finally, a fanzine workshop hosted by Sandrine Marc will be held on May 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Details and reservation for a place at the encounter or the workshop at lespui.eu.
The “L’édition comme finalité” project will also be staged as part of the 12th edition of Rencontres at the Gabrielle-Bernard-Dubé Library, in Carleton-sur-Mer, from July 30 to September 4, 2021, and afterwards at the Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto, in Montreal, from September 9 to October 10, 2021.
This initiative was made possible by the support of the Fonds franco-québécois pour la coopération décentralisée.
