The Photographer Tour of the 4th edition of Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie will take place from August 15 to 21 in the four corners of the peninsula. During that period, some 30 photographers from the Gasp\u00e9, elsewhere in Qu\u00e9bec and from various countries will take part in a series of get-togethers on the subject of creation in the form of vernissages, projections and meetings with the photographers.<\/p>\n
The first activity will be held on August 15 at 6 p.m. on the Little School site in <\/span>Nouvelle<\/b>, with the vernissage of the exhibit <\/span>Playing with Reality <\/i>by <\/span>Yves Gonthier<\/b><\/a> <\/b>(Maria, the Gasp\u00e9), with the photographer present. It will be followed, at 8\u00a0p.m., by the vernissage of the exhibit by <\/span>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois\u00a0Lamoureux <\/b>and Mathilde Fournier-H\u00e9bert<\/b><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec), at the Saint-Laurent-de-Matap\u00e9dia church in <\/span>Matapedia<\/b>. This is the fruit of their creation residency in the Gasp\u00e9, which runs from August 1 to 14.<\/span><\/p>\n Opening evening<\/b><\/p>\n The Photographer Tour opening evening will be held on August 16 beginning at 5 p.m. in Carleton-sur-Mer. The public will first be invited to the lagoon rest stop in <\/span>Saint-Omer<\/b> to see the <\/span>Model Homes <\/i>exhibit by <\/span>Isabelle Hayeur<\/b><\/a> <\/b>(Rawdon, Qu\u00e9bec) and to meet the artist. Starting at 6 p.m., at the Centre d\u2019artists Vaste et Vague in <\/span>Carleton<\/b>, the vernissage of the <\/span>0:00\u00a0GMT Intersection<\/i> installation by the <\/span>Tendance\u00a0Floue<\/b><\/a> collective (Montreuil, France) will take place, as well as a meeting with its members on the theme \u201cCreating by Way of an Artists\u2019 Collective.\u201d The event will be followed by a lecture by <\/span>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Nadeau<\/b>, cultural-page director of the newspaper <\/span>Le Devoir<\/i>. Around 9 p.m., the public and the artists will be invited to make their way to the Carleton municipal beach to attend the vernissage of the <\/span>Archipelago<\/i> installation by <\/span>Serge Cl\u00e9ment<\/b><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) in the presence of the artist.<\/span><\/p>\n On August 17, at 11:30 a.m., the public is invited to the Gasp\u00e9\u2019s North Shore for the vernissage of the <\/span>Sandra\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Lachance<\/b><\/a> exhibit <\/span>At My Last Meal<\/i>, and works by <\/span>J\u00e9r\u00f4me Landry<\/b> (Cap-Chat, the Gasp\u00e9), at the rest area in <\/span>Cap-Chat<\/b> in the presence of the artists. At 2:30 p.m., people are invited to the Couturier building in <\/span>Marsoui<\/b> for the vernissage of <\/span>Tokyo Compression <\/i>by <\/span>Michael Wolf<\/b><\/a> (Hong Kong, China), then to A.-Couturier park for the vernissage of <\/span>Domaine de la Florida <\/i>by <\/span>S\u00e9bastien\u00a0Michaud<\/b><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec), in his presence. Next, at 8:30 p.m., the public is expected at the Copper Interpretation Centre in <\/span>Murdochville<\/b> for the vernissage of the exhibit by <\/span>Louis\u00a0Couturier<\/b> and Jacky\u00a0Georges Lafargue<\/b><\/a> (Carleton-sur-Mer, the Gasp\u00e9),<\/span> <\/b>Murdochville: The Beauty of Destruction<\/i>, as well as a projection and a get-together with the artists.<\/span><\/p>\n On August 18 at noon at the Mus\u00e9e de la Gasp\u00e9sie in the town of <\/span>Gasp\u00e9<\/b>, the vernissage of the exhibit by <\/span>Alain\u00a0Paiement<\/b><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) entitled <\/span>From a Different A<\/i>ngle <\/i>will be held with the artist in attendance. At 3 p.m., the vernissage of the exhibits <\/span>Cross-Perspectives<\/i> by <\/span>Guillaume D. Cyr<\/b><\/a> (Quebec City, Qu\u00e9bec), a native of New Richmond, and <\/span>The Gasp\u00e9, Wild, with Your Feet in the Water\u2026<\/i> by <\/span>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Merlet<\/b><\/a> (Mortagne-sur-S\u00e8vre, France), will take place at the Suzanne-Guit\u00e9 space in <\/span>Perc\u00e9<\/b>. At 5 p.m., in <\/span>Chandler<\/b>, on the Souvenir park road and the Circuit des b\u00e2tisseurs footbridge, there will be the vernissage of <\/span>Memory (Woman Scenario)<\/i> and a get-together with its creators, <\/span>Patrick Dionne<\/b> and Miki\u00a0Gingras<\/b><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec). At 8 p.m., at the <\/span>Bonaventure<\/b> marina, the public is invited to the vernissage for the exhibit of <\/span>Evgenia Arbugaeva<\/b><\/a> (Iakoutsk, Russia) entitled <\/span>Tiksi<\/i>, and to a projection of the artist\u2019s work (her presence remains to be confirmed).<\/span><\/p>\n On August 19 at 7 p.m. at the Banc-de-P\u00eache-de-Pasp\u00e9biac historical site in <\/span>Pasp\u00e9biac<\/b>, the vernissage of the exhibit<\/span> <\/b>The Great Divide <\/i>by <\/span>Beatrix\u00a0von\u00a0Conta<\/b><\/a> (Peyrins, France) will take place, in addition to a projection of her work. A get-together with the artist on the theme \u201cMutation and Fragility of Gaspesian Landscapes\u201d is yet to be confirmed. Starting at 7:30 p.m. there will be a screening of the film by <\/span>Helen\u00a0Doyle<\/b><\/a> (Longueuil, Qu\u00e9bec), <\/span>Frameworks: Images of a Changing World <\/i>(HD \u2014 90 minutes), which bears on the meaning and the impact of images. The screening will be followed by a get-together with the director.<\/span><\/p>\n On August 20 at 6 p.m. in <\/span>New Richmond<\/b>,<\/span> <\/b>the Gaspesian British Heritage Village will be welcoming the public for the vernissage of <\/span>The Devonians<\/i> by <\/span>Jocelyne\u00a0Alloucherie<\/b><\/a> (Montreal, Qu\u00e9bec) in the presence of the artist. The public will afterwards be invited to make their way to Pointe-Taylor park for the vernissage of <\/span>Depressive Landscapes<\/i> by <\/span>Armando\u00a0Ribeiro<\/b><\/a> <\/b>(London, U.K.), along with a projection of the artist\u2019s work and a get-together with him.<\/span><\/p>\n On August 21 at 7:30 p.m.,<\/span> <\/b>at the Vieux-Quai park in <\/span>Maria<\/b>, the final Photographer Tour activity will take place with the vernissage of the exhibit by <\/span>Suzanne Opton<\/b><\/a> (New York City), bringing together <\/span>Soldier<\/i> and <\/span>Soldier+Citizen<\/i>. There will be a projection of the work of the artist, whose presence has yet to be confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n A reminder that Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie is an invitation to come meet these artists in a region where the photograph and the landscape connect around an artistic project.
